Hi there, I am new to this site, and altho' I am NT I hope I can make some new Aspie friends. My 19 year old son has AS, and when we moved from NZ to AU last year he did not cope too well, with lots of meltdowns etc.. and that is when we found out (finally) that he has AS. He is still a little touchy about the subject, and does not like to talk about it much. (Um, yeah). Anyway, any advice or just friendly chat about whatever will be most welcome.

Thanks for the welcome guys. I do belong to a ASD support group here, which is helpful. One thing I worry about with my son tho', is since we moved to AU he does not have any friends, apart from on-line. He tells me he does not need or want friends, but being NT, I can't help but worry!

Is there anything he likes doing a lot?

Can you find a club that involves doing whatever that might be?

Even if it is computer games, there are clubs where people get together and play those.

He might make friends of a sort, doing things with people who have similar interests.

At 19 he's old enough to know what he wants and needs.

I don't find it helpful to be told I'm wasting my life because I'm single and I don't have children, I'm not sure your son would find it helpful to be told he must have friends when he doesn't want to or feel a need.
