I was given a prelim diagnosis of Autism Spectrum Disorder after a lott of talking over the months and a test, in which I scores 34/50. I'm due to take another tomorrow to confirm or not. This is my first post and I just wondered what to expect. I'm in my 30s and been going downhill mentally for 3 years. I take lithium for bi-polar disorder and a couple of anti-depressants but autism would always have been there, surely? Looking back I can see loads of symptoms but the label scares me, especially on top of the BP, which was only diagnosed a few months back. Work are great, letting me take every other day off but I can't go on like that forever. Does anyone get really tired in the afternoon?

Hitchhikers Guide to the Galaxy might be a good read for you right now.

I know this is yet another notch in your diagnostic nightmare and you are trying to adjust to this new found knowledge.

You might have spells of euphoria and panic. Let them pass. You will make better decisions in a month than you will right now. Give it time to sink in. Right now find out what your therapy options are available. Try to find out how it is different from your past therapy experiences.

Would you like to tell us what your obsessions or talents are?

Yes, I feel "spent" most of the time, and I believe that is related to my overall depression. But before you might jump to any conclusions about yourself, just try to relax and complete your assessment and give yourself some time to better understand and to let things sink in a bit ...

... and welcome to WP!

My dad gets tired in the afternoon and he is probably NT, and so do I. Luckily he has a job where he can take a nap then. It relates to your circadian rhythm. People are either fast risers or slow risers, early fade, or late fade, and certain people have a dip in the middle of the day. For me, I am wide awake at about 7:30-2:30, then I get really sleepy until about 5 or 6, and after that, I am wide awake again until about 11:00. It would be a good idea to map out your circadian rhythm and build your day around it if you can.
