I was recently made aware of AS and even more recently (tonight) Wrong Planet, and have only two main reasons why I am uncertain as to whether or not I have AS.
1. I grew up homeschooled and was extremely sheltered, hardly being around anybody outside my family, and was in large part raised by myself, devoid of influences by others and interactions with them. I had always attributed most of the symptoms of AS (before I knew about it) to such, and am still not sure that it can't still be the case.
2. Although I am fairly sure I have AS, the few people that I have discussed it with mostly dismissed the idea, or at least seemed to really doubt it, although most of them know little or nothing about it.
I took the quiz at: rdos.n et/eng/Aspie-quiz.php (broken due to new account necessitating it)
Your Aspie score: 161 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 42 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie
rdos.n et/eng/poly12c.php?p1=91&p2=84&p3=90&p4=84&p5=85&p6=89&p7=75&p8=91&p9=64&p10=59&p11=70&p12=54 (again, broken)
I would like to be officially diagnosed as having or not having it, where do I turn for such? I'm assuming a psychiatrist of some sort...
Either way, I feel like in the last few hours I have found more people that are like me than I have ever known, and feel very comfortable here and plan on sticking around
