I was just diagnosed with PDD-NOS (at the age of 41 no less), my brother was found to be an aspie last month. In retrospect I think my father may be some kind of autistic. On my mother's side there were also some that may be not all that neurotypical.

When you grow up in such a family autistic behavior is the norm. My father had had some bad experiences with psychiatry and never wanted anything to do with them. Great help that was. (OTOH, he was born 1919 and was institutionalized a while during his youth. Things were a bit different then.)

So growing up being the weird hairy guy in an neurotypical world I grew lonely, got depressed,lost my job etc... Last year I finally was dragged by a social worker to the local mental health care institute (GGZ Leiden, <3 you guys!) that finally took properly care of me.

What is there to say about me? I am a geek, and proud of it. I live in The Netherlands with more computers than a person really needs, am a medical lab-tech/ pharmaceutical validation specialist and like to walk, photograph an read.
