Having been looking around on the internet, I haven't been able to find many groups for aspies... so if anyone belongs to one, can they post where it is etc in the thread, so more people can start going? Also, if you want to post your rough geographical location, whether or not you're in an aspie group, and whether or not you'd like to be in an aspie group, it might help see how many groups are actually out there 8)

I'd love to join one. Though I don't trust newer people with my location within the country. ;)

Location: Newcastle, England.

I'm in North East England - Newcastle.
I'm desperate to meet others locally, there is a local group but I've yet to go as I'm a new member and next months meet is at a bowling ally rather than the usual place so a bit too uncomfortable for me. It's via NAS so a closed-group thus I'm not going to post details, but I will say that The National Autistic Society is the place to go for UK aspies and autistic folk looking for local groups.

I would imagine that most local groups would not allow people to just turn-up, they'll either be run by autism organisations who would be tight about protecting vulnerable members, or even more casual groups may be a bit funny about new people turning-up as existing members may be vulnerable, fussy, awkward...I'm going by what I've heard from others who run such groups and the general drama us lot can cause, lol. Just a point to consider.
