Third edit, lol.
I am 20 years old, junior in college (political science/history majors) and basically recently discovered asperger's syndrome/high-functioning autism and I think I most likely fall in the spectrum. I discovered Asperger's when trying to figure out, finally, a daily routine I have that includes flapping my arms, making small noises and lapsing into an almost dream-like state in a world that I created in my head complete with a political system, various eras of histories, wars.. it continues to this day.
My psychiatrist (I'm a textbook bipolar disorder/social anxiety/OCD) does not believe I have asperger's but I haven't really told her ALL my symptoms .. including going to crazy flaphand world behind closed doors. She also believes I relate to people in a way that cannot be Asperger's.
In that respect I think I might not have Asperger's but instead just be on the spectrum. Without a doubt, I have autistic symptoms. I think in images, have auditory processing difficulty, although I go to a prestigious university and do well academically everything I have ever learned I have taught myself. I taught myself how to learn.
I have an identical twin brother who does not seem to have Asperger's so I think it is possible that I was able to learn social skills just from growing up and watching him so I might have escaped the social aspect of asperger's although I have trouble making eye contact or having affection for friends and people. I rarely ever feel the need to pick up the phone and make plans to do something, I always wait for someone to call me.
I dont really have the ability to express affection for anyone, I am sometimes shrugged off as an a**hole, etc etc
I look forward to getting tested soon as soon as I get the balls to try and find a neurologist
Hmm that's all for now
