Hello to all who may read this. I am new here and have a 8 year old daughter with Aspergers and adhd. I cant log into chat for some reason it gives me a error java script msg. I am looking to find other parents who deal with day to day life with melt downs and glitches like we do in our home :) In the area we live in we know of one other child who has any form of autism but shes also my uncles daughter.Other then that we have been on or own.The teachers here dont know really anything even the special ed.I had one teacher fired for taping my daughter down because she couldnt sit still. I would like to know if its common for OCD,fidgeting, and big time sensory likes and dislikes is common for others with a child with this? Cant wait to hear from other parents and care takers out there :)

Ty for reading this and hope to hear from someone who "gets it"

Christa G :)

Staria,

If you want to "talk" to other parents about issues with your daughter, you would be better off posting in the Parent Discussion forum.

I can't help with the chat problem - I've never used it.

OCD, fidgeting and sensory issues are very common for people on the spectrum. OCD is considered a frequent co-morbid condition. Fidgeting and sensory issues are part of ASD. The fidgeting is often because of sensory issues. Sometimes, it helps to have "fidgets," small things that a person can hold and manipulate in their hands, so they have sensory input in that way. Squeeze balls are sometimes very useful for this.
