A flippant comment from a friend a while back led me to some silly Asperger's quiz online.... and then another one, and a really long one... and I started to freak out. How is it possible I could get to adulthood and no therapist/parent/teacher/counselor/doctor ever notice all of this about me? I started researching, and eventually I clicked enough links that I ended up here. I've been reading along for a couple days and have never felt so fortunate to have found a website.

I have no medical insurance, and therefore have no immediate ability to seek dx. I'm trying to figure things out as I go. All I know is you guys make a lot of sense and I like the idea that maybe it's not just me who thinks/acts this way.

AS can be hard to diagnosis and suspect that someone has it. Some of us went into adulthood and beyond without a diagnosis. I was just dismissed as a shy and quiet person until I read a article about AS and took some of the quizzes like you. Read the information about AS and came to the conclusion that I had AS

It is a good feeling to know that your not only one who thinks that way and have a place like WP to hangout. So go ahead and hangout here, relax and enjoy yourself, read as much as you want. Whenever you feel like it you can make your voice known by participating in the forum

I'm still trying to figure out which are the stereotypes and which are valid; whether I have learned unconsciously learned to adapt, or whether I'm fishing for answers that aren't there (here).

It's really nice to see others with the same thought processes and ideas, though.

Welcome! Many here have no formal diagnosis. No real need, unless you have to file for benefits or some such. If you are feeling at home and everything you are reading seems right and familiar, then you are one of us. I didn't figure it out until just recently either, but the more I learn, the more it seems right.

It's staggering how at-home I feel here. This site has completely redefined normal for me already, and I'm glad I found it.
