I have a 14-year-old daughter, severely affected by ASD. She's a tortured soul, unable to stop replaying bad memories and self-harming. For a parent, it's like being stabbed through the heart every day.

Thanks for the forum - looks like a great place. Can't type any more right now. See you later.

hi, ASD people are very sensitive.... but i don't think she just got hat... i mean there must be something which troubles her very much... and that is not only ASD-specific.... so how can you blame the ASD for it?

best wishes,
anton

Is there anything that your daughter likes a lot? If there is and you can figure out together how and what triggers the negative loop, you could try distracting her with the thing she likes a lot.

Although, as anton said, it is not just an ASC issue. What kind of things is she replaying? because it may help people here advise you as to how to help best.

Hope things get better for you both.

Asperger's can come with a host of other conditions - depression included. It would be a good idea to have her evaluated. She doesn't have to stay stuck in her negative thoughts.

Welcome - I'm sure you'll find lots of support here !

awww yes i know these feelings all to well. I am very very sensitive. and if someone hurts me i replay it over and over and over! till i can't stand myself and think i am a horrible person for being on this planet. didn't help my family as a child confirmed this! i call it getting stuck and i can't move on till i get unstuck. so i have a therapist. most days are good a few bad ones here and there! I hope it helps to know there's someone else out there thats struggling just as bad out there.
the self harming well thats not good! I would have her checked out! could turn real ugly!
