Okay, so I signed up for this site. I usually don't have time to follow blogs/forums/discussions/etc. I never heard anything about Asperger's Syndrome until about 2005, when I discovered it looking for something else. (I had heard of autism, but I only knew of the kind with speech problems, which I didn't have, so I had totally ignored it.) Everything about AS seemed to fit my life perfectly when I looked back in retrospect. I was relieved to know that this condition involved having a different brain. I had always wondered what was wrong with me and why I did not fit in, and the times I made some sort of effort to change or fit in just didn't work. (The thing says I created an account in 2008. I don't remember doing it, but that was a hectic time.) I have not tried to get a diagnosis. I am not in a position to afford it, and I am not sure what difference it would make.

Well, first off, Welcome to Wrong Planet! :D

And I kind of feel the same way about diagnosis you do. There's nothing specialist about it. It all seems to be 'Do you have these traits? . . . . And do they cause problems (or potential problems)?' There's nothing like an MRI scan that my brain overfocuses on some areas and underfocuses on others. Which I'd find a little scary anyway, and I'd want a very respectful environment.
