Hey.
My name is Marc. I'm nearly 22 and I was diagnosed with aspergers syndrome at 20 years old.
I always knew that there was something wrong with me and I always wandered why I can't seem to fit in and get friends, why eye contact is painful. I have been in and out of serious cases of depression through my life as well. When I was 19 I was looking at mental illnesses and disorders to try and find out if anything sounds familiar. At first I thought I could be bipolar or clinically depressed, and then I came across the aspergers article and it sounded very familiar, but then I read it was related to autism and autism to me at the time was rainman and I thought that I can't have it.
When I turned 20 I went to the doctor to get some more prozac and I asked "Do you think it could be more than me just being depressed? Do you think I could have something that hasn't been diagnosed?" and then she sent me to mental health specialists to basically ask me questions and talk about my life, I went a few times and I was diagnosed with aspergers syndrome.
I really hate having it, but I'm trying not to hate having it so I read some articles here and I thought I would sign up, so Hi.

Like you, I had a lot of problems and still do, especially with eye contact. I struggled with depression and went through a phase of trying to pin a 'mental illness' to my behaviour.
