Hello!
I got diagnosed Aspergers six month ago. Glad that I found this forum today and was already reading in the women's corner as there is not a lot to find about women with Aspergers in general.
Greetings to all of you!
Eloa

Most welcome ;)
Indeed, if only the population in general had a little more understanding about us we would actually feel more as if we were on the right planet. Until then, here is good enough for many :)

Until my diagnosis I felt weird but I also felt other people to be weird. Now I learn about the differences and I still find myself AND other people weird, but I get a better understanding...that helps already. I also got diagnosed with anxiety-disorder and depression but I start to understand the issues leading to it.
Still sometimes I wish I could just be like neurotypical women, but I can`t figure out 'how they do it'...because I cannot feel the way they are behaving and acting. I can feel more like men are behaving and acting. One of my greatest special interests in childhood were planes and I knew everything about that...well, I still do in a way...
But another special interest were cats and I have three of them. I like to figure out their language, how they use their voice and the sounds they make. In the meanwhile we have a great communication because we both do effort :)
Would be nice if the human population would also do any effort...
Greetings
Eloa

I have a female school friend who like us as Aspergers, she been a good support to me this year.

Oh BTW I love your country I visited Belgium about ten years old,
thats how I fell in love with Belgium beer and chocolate.

Thank you!
I am really overwhelmed when I see from how many parts of the world people write here!
But --- realizing it it also led me to an overload yesterday---
Do all people with Aspergers/Autime suffer from overloads, I mean in hearing, sight, tasticle and inside, I mean by thoughts when you are not in your special interest, but when you have to face "the world"...
I suffer a lot from these overloads but learning about having Aspergers - or how they wrote - an autism spectrum disorder but they said it was Aspergers (but they cannot write it officially they said) I start to try to see it as a way of being to be sensitive for information other people don't realize.
Do you have often overloads or meltdowns? I get it going on the street and what helps me is having music in my head, mostly classical music and it kind of relaxes me. I have this since I was a child and once I was on holiday with my family (I was about 4 years old) I also had this music playing in my head. There I could not connect anymore to my family and they went away because I pretended to be sleeping but I wasn't, it was only that I was more attracted more to the music in my head. So this is something that relaxes me...but it doesn't work always. I am not good at math.

Hey Eloa, I'm an BELGIAN AS too! but I have never been officially diagnosed, I made the discovery 2 weeks ago by accident.

I'm a psychology student so in some way it is very interesting to see the world with a different pair of glasses.

Anyways, I have found the difficulties we tend to face day to day are culturally bounded American or European culture is quite different, flemish and walloon culture is also very different. Brussels itself is also very different, In Belgium we live on crossroads of different cultures which can make it very hard or fascinating to interact with NT people, I chose for the 2nd ;)

Cheers.

Hi Eloa, and welcome!
I am 33 years old, I am a woman and I have Asperger's. I have been diagnosed some months ago.
It has been very helpful to get it and to do research about this condition reading people's experience and recognizing parts of me . It brings a better understanding of myself and my special way to be
why I have aways felt so different from other people and my shyness and introvert nature and everything
now at least has more light. But I am still on the path.... :D
