I just signed up a couple of days ago, and this seemed like the place to begin. I'm currently in the process of navigating the medical system in attempt to get a diagnosis. I've been reading about Asperger's for a few months, and it seems like every single thing I learn causes an epiphany. I'm suddenly understanding my childhood and current problems with a clarity I've never had. I always assumed that I was just exceptionally weird, and didn't associate many of the "symptoms" with each other as though they were a single package. I know there's danger in making self-diagnosis based on internet reading, but I'm convinced beyond a doubt. Nothing in my life has ever made so much sense before. So I just wanted to make my first post and express my gratefulness at having found this place. I look forward to posting more later, and getting to know everyone.

Hi Tangerine and welcome from another relative newcomer.

Like you the realisation of my AS came late in life. It was as a result of my son being assessed ASD. I have also read loads - Tony Attwood's book was the most useful.

Good luck.

i know how you feel! i recently found out about AS and it's like ive been smacked in the forehead and everything is so clear now! im passively trying to get a DX atm but dont really have the time or money... im not too concerned because i had kinda accepted being weird some time ago... but at the same time, i'd like to have it kind of finalized...

it just feels so relieving to have a working theory that explains every facet of my life's struggles!
