I'm the mother of a male with AS. My son is just 13 and was diagnosed about age 9 or so.
I also think my husband has some sort of autism related symptoms so I have what I call a double wammy! When they get going (arguing or fixating on a point) I just slide out of the room and try to remain calm. Not easy!! !

Anyhow...thanks for this great forum!

Besides being a mom to my son, we have a 3 year old dog we love very much. I enjoy reading, sewing, playing computer and videogames, writing and cooking. I have a great interest in education and have a Masters in Elementary Education. I mainly taught preschool but I now homeschool my son.

Thankfully it's now summer break! We aren't sure if we will homeschool next term. Still trying to figure it out.

Seems a lot like my case! I was diagnosed at 13 but was suspected since age 10, my dad has some AS traits and my mother is a teacher herself.
I have been homeschooled for over two years, and it was better than mainstream could ever be.
