Hi, I'm V. I'm a 27yr guy who just find out about asperger. When I saw one of my counselros he told me I had it, but I didn't believe him until I researched it. I will probalby be hated for saying this, but I hate having this condition. The main reason is I haven't found ways to cope with my inquities. The stress I have to handle has caused things such as I.B.S. and ulcers. Are these normal for people with AS. Also I havent found anyone in NY in this group. If there are any NY aspie meetup places I would be more than grateful to get any listings. I also have found ways to compensate for things. Like for clumsiness I have taught myself martial arts to compensate. I'm still trying to deal with this and so far I feel alone through this. Not desperate, but a good online frend wouldn't be bad.

I have IBS and yes, I think its pretty common<it didnt start for me until around 12yrs old,also have a low thyroid which can exasterbate the symptoms as well as a milk intollerence...never been tested for food alergys,I just avoid milk products in general and try and eat lots of fiber.

New Yorks pretty big,seems like there would be support groups in your area...I know there are in Conniticut.....lots of As and research done there.

I think it is something some people need to get used to and i don"t think everyone learns to like it

Yah, I've had ulcers and have stomach problems--but I think it is the coffee I drink to calm down.

My stomach hates me too. Have you seen a gastroenterologist ? I wasn't aware that stress caused these problems.

My Mum had long term problems with ulcers until it was discovered that she had a Helicobacter Pylori infection.

Food intolerance can cause IBS - I took a food intolerance test a couple of years ago which proved very useful. The trouble is that (at least in the UK) most docs only seem to know about classic allergy (IgE mediated responses) and nothing about intolerances (IgG mediated responses) and these tests are only available privately
