I am Dave a 54 year old man who suspectd he might have AS. I have just recently heard about Asperger's and the diagnostic exam cannot be scheduled for some time. All my life something has been different, but I never knew exactly what. I am somewhat socially awkward, but I do have a core of long term good friends...thank goodness... I am sensitive to certain noises and bright light, not really crazy about eye contact and although not exactly obsessive, I do tend to focus on narrow areaa of iterests at times. The main clue for me is my literal mind, I have to translate almost everything anyone else says...I can usually do it fairly quickly, it is not readily apparent to an observer, but I do not detect many nonverbal cues and this leads to many misunderstandings and what is worse, apparently, I give off some bizzare nonverbal cues that give meaning not intended by my words...I am constantly expalining that no, what I said was actually ALL I meant, nothing more, nothing less...very frustrating...well, I am rambling...I will read some of the threads, but I wanted to introduce myself.
