Hello all.

I sort of read into tone... I usually have to interpret it from different ways in general (one of the reasons I am here and reading things) I find myself questioning the intentions and subtext online the same way that I do with someone I speak to face to face. It's a pain but it's something I've gotten somewhat ok at and am usually about 40% confident in my assessments.

After reading quite a few threads, first I should say hi and everyone seems very interesting! but also I keep reading into a lot of conversations as if they are tense and frustrated debates. Maybe that is me projecting because the whole concept of Aspergers and Autism makes me feel a bit tense when I let myself consider that it might relate to me. Perhaps it's just the vibe of conversations right now among a community that I have only known for about 6 hours now.

So I figured I would actually do a hi thread by just asking (my usual way of figuring out subtext actually).

When you post things here on wrongplanet, do you feel tense/passionate/boisterous about a lot of things you post.

I don't know how one defines tense, to be honest. The mood of each subforum can vary, however.

Anyway, welcome!

Hi Ten, thanks.

I think I am learning that. It seems I might have just stumbled on some heated discussions is all. Now I feel a bit silly for posting the poll...

I think it's more that people with Aspergers will debate or argue for the sake of actually debating or arguing, whereas normal people mostly argue/ask questions for emotional validation. Me personally, I find it hard to just be like "it's all right, everything will be OK" when I don't logically think it. So, yeah.

And uh, have you seen PRR?

i know exactly what you mean, i read this and thought, 'thats what i do' i question everything, moreso when i was younger, if i was told don't touch that it burns... id put my hand near it at first... not so bad... a bit closer and a bit closer then, oh yeah it was as hot as i was told.lol bad but its me. i smashed my bedroom window when i was little, i just had to feel the break... blood... lol i prob still are the same person, im just a little bit better at getting away with it lol.
back to the tense thing, i called it anxious. its part of my problem anyway. do you take medication? i take anti d's and they worsen my anxiety but i feel happier, wouldnt say calmer but am finding it hard to be upset and i think it shows in my persona, sorry to keep going on and on, someone might enjoy the read... take it easy

I very much question everything. It's how i have such a strong rotating interest in science, math, people behavior, business, all kinds of stuff.

As for medication, a long time ago I was in an outpatient program with adult mental health and they subscribed me increasing levels of lexapro but I found with time that the side affects outweighed the benefits. Now a days I take a 3rd dose of St Johns Wort which doesn't resolve anything but it does lessen depression which makes it easier to deal with the anxiety and panic attacks. (it's pretty difficult to say "you can do it... you'll calm down soon after some coping" when your brain is like "what's the use, you'll just get triggered again after you calm down" lol)

After some of the stuff I read yesterday I suspect I am below the level in the spectrum to be officially AS. This is partially based on coping mechanisms and self-taught skills. I seem to be doing pretty well in my life right now so it's difficult to really say that the things I have in common are things that cause me problems. Of course, much of that could be caused by luck and the fact that my work and hobbies fit my needs exactly.

As for long posts, don't worry :) I like to read long posts and I tend to type them up as well.

Thanks all.
