Hi, everyone! My name is Candace and I'm a 21-year-old college student majoring in graphic design!
My story: A few days ago, I read a New York Times article about and watched the interview with Jack Robison and Kirsten Lindsmith and for an unknown reason, it touched me and I found that I strongly identified with it. I had no idea why I did but I knew I had to do more research on it. So after a solid 3 days of research, I came to the conclusion that I definitely have Asperger's. It explains every single problem I've ever had to struggle with and connects them all together. And I mean everything! Ranging from big things like severe social anxiety, terrible planning skills, and not being able to ask for help though I desperately needed it, to tiny things like despising the texture of sushi.
So now I'm in the process of reading Rudy Simone's Aspergirls (which fits me to an absolute T) and trying to fight the now completely visible monster. It's as if I could only see parts of it before and I was punching those as hard as I could, but it was still defeating me because it was walloping me with invisible fists. And now I've joined Wrong Planet, which seems to be a fantastic way to connect with other Aspergians!
Anyway, just wanted to stop by and say hello! I probably won't be posting anywhere for a while since I tend to observe before jumping in, but I'll be around. It was hard enough getting the courage to post this. Usually I never introduce myself and always just lurk. Anyway, I'm very happy to be here and hope to make some great friends while learning more about being an Aspie!
~Candace
