Hi all, how's everyone doing tonight? :)

As my username indicates, my name is Allen, and I'm from the SF Bay Area (LOL!). I honestly don't know whether I have Asperger's Syndrome or I just have some of the trait associated with AS in mild form. I have been diagnosed by one psychiatrist with "mild, high-functioning AS" but another psychiatrist wasn't convinced that I had it. I do, however, have a good deal of anxiety and depression issues, which were pretty bad in high school. Now that I'm in college, it's gotten better somewhat...but I still have a lot of challenges.

Anyway, I hope to get to know you all around the forum! :)

hi Allen,
what's so funny about being from the S.F. Bay Area? wink wink. That's where I'm from, too!
It is frustrating to feel like you're on the cusp of a diagnosis of an autism spectrum disorder. Whether or not you ever get an "official" diagnosis depends on how many practitioners you ask, I guess. I remember an article in the NYT about an older fellow who wasn't diagnosed until he was in his mid-20's and that his family basically was in denial the whole time about his autism. But now the fellow gets help and is doing better. Were they right to deny him the diagnosis or is that a form of negligence?

Welcome, Allen! I'm new here as well. Just wanted to chime in with my personal theory: "If you think you have it, you probably do." :D
