Hi, don't really know what to say, so I'll probably ramble on.

I came across Wrong Planet while surfing round the internet for advice on issues I've been having around my AS, so thought I'd sign up and get some support and advice and meet other Aspies.

Ok, about me....

I'm a 21yr old student, studying for a degree in Writing and Film Studies (I hope to be a Screenwriter one day) at Anglia Ruskin in Cambridge

I consider myself a huge geek. I do a lot of Wargaming in my spare time, I enjoy building painting and gaming with the models, as well as the world in the background around the games. I write a lot. Outside uni I'm actually working two novels, one about my life with AS, the other on more of a fantasy gothic-style theme. I read a lot too, into Discworld novels in a huge way, as well as fantasy and sci-fi books. Another interest of mine is playing classic video games from my childhood, like Pokemon and Final Fantasy

I'm also into rock and metal music in a big way. One of my main ways of socialising is going to gigs with my best friend

I've been diagnosed with AS since the age of 11. Until about 9 months ago I was engaged to a wonderful girl who seemed to understand my Aspergers and accepted every single aspect of it, but that relationship went bad, as she became very controlling and insecure in our relationship and we split up.

Since then I've been finding it very hard to get on with my life. I've got no idea whether this is down to my AS or other factors, but despite trying very hard and support from my best friend, I just feel a bit lost.

Like i said, i don't know what to expect from joining Wrong Planet, but I'm hoping that it will help me and I'll meet some awesome people :)

Welcome to WP (: I'm a fan of the classic pokemon games too (actually, I'm a full-fledged pokemon addict, but we'll just skip over that) :P

Nice of you to ask. Even though I'm Air Force, I have a passion for battleships. I play Seekrieg, which is a table-top game using miniatures. To get an idea of the game, please check out www.seekrieg.com. I have a fleet of well over a thousand 2400 scale ships dating from the Spanish American War to the end of World War II. An even though I'm a battleship fan, I also have an impressive carrier fleet. Some ships are pewter from GHQ. Some are epoxy resin from Panzerschieffs. Many I've carved from balsa wood, brass wire, and spagetti straw, because it's cheeper and because I enjoy carving them. The ones I carve are also 2400 scale and accurate to within 1/100 of an inch. I have pictures of the ones I've carved but can't seem to import them.

For land battles, I play Avalon Hill's Panzer Leader, a game I've plaved since age 12.

I prefer tactical to strategic.

Regards,

Longshanks

That sounds awesome :)

I do fantasy and sci-fi gaming, so stuff like Games Workshop and Mantic games, mainly because I love the figures they put out and painting them up. but a few of my friends do historical gaming.

Havn't heard of Seekrieg before, they mainly play Flames of War and stuff like that, but I'll direct them that way. Tempted to take it up myself if I can get them interested.

Wow, over a thousand ships? That's pretty amazing =D

There is a very famous actor and comedian who has AS, of whom a college buddy of mine knows very well, who has a fleet of over 10,000 of these ships. My friend and I have taken him on on occassion. To guard the actor's privacy, he will remain nameless.
