Hi everyone!

I'm Adam, 19 years old and a uni student - in Manchester, here's my story;

My mum works at a nursery and has been doing research on autism because of one of the children she works with is showing symptoms. She thinks that I may have Aspergers based on my behaviour as a child. I've done my own reading into it over the last few days and I show alot of the symptoms - along with getting the same result on the AQ test.

You could say it's a self-diagnosis but I 'think' I have mild aspergers, some aspects of it seem to stand out more than others. I'm not quite sure whether to go to the doctors for a dignosis?

Hope to get to know some of you all!

Thanks!

Thanks, Fight Club is a great movie too 8)

Don't know if I should drop this in a new thread but...

The only implications I can conciously recognise are:
Social awkwardness
Rage and Depression - I can usually keep these in check by keeping myself really active.
//which results in severe tension headaches at times..
Reading problems - I struggle to read alot of formal text, (documents and such), I'm great when it comes to using my imagination.

Should I go to the doctors to get an official diagnosis? Would there be any benefits to doing so?

Welcome to WP (:

I'd say it's your call on whether to get a clinical diagnosis -- I'd say you've got it better than me. I get told I have difficulty in a social situation, which I'm now starting to notice. I have repetitive unusual behaviors, and overly strong obsessions/interests in cats and pokemon. I don't understand social right and wrong, and can't read facial expressions, body language, or other social cues.

All in all, I'm me, and everyone else is their own unique individual, no matter what level of difference they might have (: `

Your Aspie score: 158 of 200
Your neurotypical (non-autistic) score: 56 of 200
You are very likely an Aspie
