I sometimes get legitimate messages but mostly messages from someone who doesn't speak English well enough to make decent sense. They say they love me and want to pursue a life with me, or something along those lines. Then they leave their email address and tell me to contact them through that.

AS IF

I just delete them. It's too much trouble to report it here.

These are scammers, probably hoping to get personal info they can use and/or money. Nice people don't email strangers they've never met to tell them that they want to have a relationship with them. Only crooks do that. Once they get someone to be their pen pal, and the fool gets attached, then they start saying stuff like "I'm stuck in a place far from home. Please wire me big bucks, so I can come home, or come see you." Or, "I owe some bad people some money, and they will kill me if I don't pay, so wire me big bucks to save me." Or, "I or a relative are deathly ill, but have no money for the doctor. Please wire me big bucks to pay the doctor." Or "I have a chance to invest in this sure thing that is GUARANTEED to make us rich honey. Please wire me big bucks to close the deal." And so on, and so on. They take people for as much as they can get out of them, and leave behind a foolish person who has been hurt both emotionally and financially, but is hopefully a little wiser afterwards. Usually they are from another country, but not always.

Report these frauds to the moderators, and then delete them.

Someone recently told me that people in jail do stuff like this. They share ideas and everything. I don't understand how prisoners get internet but something to beware.

Please do not simply delete these kinds of messages without reporting them to the following thread as a reply:

http://www.wrongplanet.net/postt141259.html

Post as a reply to the thread. Click the username link, then copy and paste the profile address from your browser's address bar into the reply, with a short description of what they sent you. PM spammers are banned without question or comment.

We can't ban them if we don't know about them. If they do not send US PM's, and you don't tell us, we cannot know about them.

Report them! Please!
