New to site and internet corrospondance thing

Hello, as stated i'm new to wrongplanet and forum posting in general (though some of you may remember me from the chatroom). I'm here to digitally meet new people and generally exchange ideas.

A little about me, I'm 23 years old, male, been a soldier sience 17. Been deployed twice to Iraq, and am currently deployed to Afghanistan (hopefully my last deployment ever). I'm planning to get out of the military in 2014 and persue a degree in engineering with a minor in psychology (method behind the madness i swear). I've been married for 5 years, no kids.

Not saying I am surprised you can function or whatever, just that you were allowed to join.

the application form read 'Are you currently being treated for a mental condition' (or something to that affect) when I enlisted. The 'have you ever been diagnosed' questions were for very specific things, which i did not have.

It is probably much much stricter now, though in all honesty most people are blowing hot air when they say things about policy in the military (my advice is to read the black and white reg for ANYTHING you try to do before you do it). I enlisted during the surge when they really really really needed bodies so it's very possible they loosened everything up.

As for the method for the degree choice madness, it's more or less a trade secret, but it's tailoring myself to make a shiney reseme for something i'd have to compete against a few dozen other very qualified people to get.

eh, to hell with it, I'm aiming to apply to be a astronaut on the planned 2025 missions for NASA, hense the degree choice.

wow. an astronaut! i know a rocket scientist who works for NASA, but you're almost the first astronaut candidate i've met. an ex-boyfriend (engineer) thought he might try out but had a rare chest malformation that really wasn't a medical problem and was disqualified. best of wishes on your dream. can't go wrong with engineering should uncle sam find some reason not to take you. wanting to be an astronaut will inspire you to be your best. what a great choice!
