Hello everyone.

I've joined because my friend who is a pshycologist is convinced I have asperger's syndrome. She has been helping me a lot of late with various pshycological issues so has been analyzing me for a while now LOL.

I'm obviously looking for answers to many questions as she only told me 3 weeks ago so its all new to me.

Especially as I always thought the way I do and found so many social skills I just dont understand even though people have explained them to me. Ive always seemed different from everybody else and its only recently ive stopped trying to fight this and try to accept who I am.

Im sure you'll find that you are not alone in many of the things you may have trouble with, or excell at.

PS. if you are ever looking for good explanations of social stuff, or stuff that doesnt come easily to AS just head over to the articles section, they have really good tips for everything from eye contact to saying hello, to making sure your professors dont fail you because you come off as a know it all.

Thanks for the advice!!

The more i read the more i find I have problems with at the moment. I've had a lot of issues with sexual abuse and bullying over many years and my shrink thinks all my problems are just related to that. I know different because Ive always been the way I am before the abuse etc.

Maybe I'm just "socially inept" or a "social handgrenade", I dont know but If there is an explanation then great at least I can settle down in my mind as to what i will never understand and move on in life.

Ive spent all my life trying to be "normal" and "fit in" and to be honest I'm exhausted with it and i just want to be me flaws and all. I realise certain behaviours are socially unacceptable so my solution last few years has been to simply avoid any social situation where my closest friends are not there as they are the only people who have a vague understanding and know what I'm like so accept me for who I am.
