Hi ForEverAutistic! Welcome to Wrong Planet! Check out the many interesting and helpful forums here. If you click on the Info & Media tab it will drop down a list, including items about books and one about articles. You can read the articles to find out more about Autism, and look into the books available here. Although I have not done so, I think you can order them. They will have more info about Autism.
I am in my early 50s, so I remember what it was like growing up with undiagnosed, and unknown about Asperger's Syndrome. For a while they even had me in a special school for kids with emotional/behavior problems, and discipline problems. Not fun. They eventually had me back in regular school, but it was still bad. I should have been home schooled, but back then that was only done if you lived in a really remote area, or had some physical disability or obvious disease.
Unfortunately, there are still not many treatment options available for adults on the Autism/Asperger's spectrum. You could try starting an adult Autism/Asperger's group in your area, but you will have to make it very clear that it is for adults. If you don't the parents of children on the spectrum will take over the group, and the spectrum adults will be side lined by them. Also, check out the General Autism forum here at WP for more info. It has helped me some.
And remember, you are among friends here at WP!
