Hello!

Up until now, I've used this site to quiet down the nocturnal buzz in my mind on nights when the insomnia was particularly jarring. I've felt tempted to join many times, and for no apparent reason, I figured today was as good a day as any to take the first step.

I have no idea if I'm anywhere on the spectrum and wouldn't have actually considered it until a few years ago when I finally made a true human connection with my best friend and we started discussing our childhoods and our similar-but-not-quite weirdness. Turns out my 10 yr. old self would be shocked to find out it's not the rest of the world who can't conform to my normalcy...

I've often stumbled upon some very interesting topics on these forums and I hope I have something to contribute.

Welcome. For a 10 year old your writing is better than some adults!

Thank you for the welcome. :)

I haven't been 10 in a long time, I just meant that once I got to talk to someone openly about what I was like when I was growing up, it became clear that at that age I was wrong about what was "normal" and what was not normal. Making up my fantasy world, walking down the street with my head down because I didn't want to see anybody who'd want to talk to me, repeating my own words back to myself over and over and staring at light bulbs for hours (there were people in them and they were wearing Victorian outfits for some reason) were apparently in the Not category. I didn't really care and I don't think I'd trade my childhood for any other, but finding websites like this has helped me understand myself a bit better.
