I'll keep it short for now, though there's a LOT more I would like to say.

I'm 30 years old, single male living in Florida. I'm originally from MA, but I've been here since June 2003 with my Mom, brother, sister and her two kids. I work about 25-30 hours a week at a Naval commissary as a shelf stocker, and I've been doing that for 2.5 years. I've never had a girlfriend and very few friends. I have had sexual encounters though they were always paid for (ashamed to say) and left me confused, hurt, what have you. I hope this doesn't cheapen your view of me, but if it does so be it. I've felt alone most of my life. I was diagnosed with Aspergers a few years ago. In addition I took the 150 question quiz a few days back and scored 149 out of 200 so that reinforced my having it. The reason I say that is I was later told by a different psychiatrist that I probably did not have it because I didn't do certain things that fit the 'typical' profile of someone with AS.

I hope to gain some 'friends' here, as friendly as you can get via internet anyhow. But, I also hope not to turn this website into a crazy overbearing obsession like I tend to do often. At least here I can't spend money wildly, or can I? :)

Wes M.

you've heard the saying, "the one-eyed man is king in the land of the blind"? this cartoon riffs on that by having the sighted man be impressed by how the partially sighted man copes with such a disadvantage. i thought the cartoon expressed somewhat how i felt about the OP and his success concurrent with his AS, in dealing with the social aspects of hooking up with a sex worker, something that is leagues beyond what i can comprehend. IOW i consider the OP to have superior "social vision" to that of my own.

Hi WesM82! Welcome to Wrong Planet! Check out the many interesting and helpful forums here. You are among friends here at WP! :D

The second Psych doc obviously doesn't have much experience with spectrum disorders. Any doc with any real experience in this area would know that there are many possible traits to have, but that no one person has them all. Rather, we each have a varied assortment of traits, and to varied levels of intensity. In other words, there really is no "typical" set of traits that we all will have.

I've felt alone almost my entire life, also. Here at WP, though, I have been able to find and hang out with my kind of people, so I feel less alone now. :D At the same time, I am able to maintain the solitude that I developed a need for after failing to fit in with the NT world, so over all this has worked out good for me. :D

The people here mostly don't share my interests about non spectrum things, and I mostly don't share theirs, but that's okay. I don't want to live in a world of Stepford clones. That would be boring.

I hope you like WP. I do! :D
