Hi, everyone. I'm new to this site and glad that there is a place for me to interact with others that understand my situation. I have just discovered in the last few days that it appears I'm an Aspie. It started when my wife thought that our 3-year-old daughter may have it. Our sons, 5 and 1, seem to show no signs of it so far. As I was researching AS, what caught my attention was that it is supposedly hereditary from the father. Then I read all of the signs and symptoms and thought, "Wow! That's me all the way." No formal diagnosis, but I show all of the signs except depression. I just turned 29, and never new about this. Every one I know or have know just thought that I was rude and inconsiderate at times. Now I know why I am the way I am. And I thank God for it too. He's made me this way for a reason. Now I just need to discover what's next that He has for me.

I'm glad that you're trying to help both yourself and your daughter. That said, out of abject curiosity about your username, are you in the military?

No real reason I ask, I just thought it was interesting. For most aspies, being a soldier is antithesis to their condition, yet I've met several individuals on the spectrum that have served in different branches. While I'm not enlisted myself, I have a friend at the Air Force Academy in Colorado as well as several senpai/kohai who are in the ROTC program at the college I attend. I also like games that involve military strategy and am a bit of a gun nut, and I have a large amount of respect for those who serve.

Yes, I am a veteran. I served 3 years in security forces in the Miss. Air National Guard and 3 years with the Seabees in the Navy Reserve. I'm actually in the process of getting back in through the Army Reserve. They have a job that is right up my ally using GIS and computers. Actually, for me, I did fairly well when I first served because it happens that the military is one of my few passions so therefore it fits. I love the order and structure. The yelling and stuff in training didn't bother me because my thoughts were, "Keep yelling and making me do push-ups. Doesn't bother me. I'm getting paid and getting stronger."

Right, the outside world. That's why i was never aware of my condition. I enjoy being around people that I like, I just never new they didn't like being around me and I never knew why until now.
