Hello, I'm another female Brit.

I've not been officially diagnosed, but the few people who actually know me say I'm Aspie; "Speaks her mind" is one of the more complimentary comments I get. :-)

Having read up a bit about it, including lurking on this site, a lot of things make sense now.

Hello,

Welcome to the forum, You would be surprised how close Asperger's Syndrome is to other mental disorders. I knew a person on the internet who after meeting me thought she might be an aspie too, I thought maybe but was a little iffy on it as she had quite a social life. Turns out she just had a certain combination of things like low self esteem, anxiety, and depression etc. That particular combo made it seem as if she could've been like an aspie.

I always think it's best to be officialy diagnosed myself but welcome regardless, I always appreciate people who learn about all this so I don't have to explain it all the time!

Hello - welcome to the forum. I am from the UK too - Lancashire in fact. Whereabouts are you from, if you don't mind me asking? :)

I went through all those in my 20s, as well as being seen by the local council's child psychology department in my teens because I was a school refuser (this was before Asperger's work was recognised in England). According to my mum, I stopped wanting to be held at around the age of one and I still have mild hypotonia and am over sensitive to certain textures as well as having some of the more commonly recognised psychological signs.

I'm originally from London but moved out to Hampshire a while back, so still very much a southerner. Lancashire has some beautiful areas (especially if, like me, you're not necessarily attracted to chocolate box prettiness).
