Hi all, I'm a newly diagnosed Aspie living in MA. I was relieved when I received the diagnosis... I've spent my entire life thinking there was something fundamentally wrong with me, that I was a freak and somehow defective. When I told my mother, she was not at all surprised. It makes me feel better to know that I'm just "wired differently", though it's often overwhelming that I'll be this way forever. I'm a biologist and have had to get into computer programming for work; I've found it oddly cathartic in the logical patterns of all of it, and the way I've been able to sort of relate my thinking process to how a program operates. I'm married to a wonderful man who, inconveniently, is the least emotional/emotive person ever, so finding a way to better communicate my intense, sometimes out of control thought process/emotional process has been nice. Not sure what else to say here, other than it's nice reading other's experiences and perspectives and feeling much less isolated
