Hello! I'm new, 24 years old, and have been doing a lot of "soul searching" lately, I guess you could say. I'm extremely introverted, and have noticed that I have a lot of the traits associated with Asperger's. One of my closest friends was recently diagnosed as an Aspie, and frequents this forum, which is how I've become familiar with it. I think I may be able to fit in here better than anywhere. So, hello everyone! I guess feel free to ask me anything you'd like to know. I'm terrible at these introductions, I'm afraid.

Welcome to Wrong Planet. You consider yourself NT, has anyone told you yeah, you're NT, or do you just think your NT because you don't have the same symptoms as your aspie friend? Or is it something else? We're eager to meet you!

When I joined, not too long ago, I thought of myself as probably half-NT, having ADHD and some Aspie traits by the side. It didn't take long to change my mind about it :) Yeah, I came to the conclusion that I'm probably an Aspie having ADHD and some NT traits too. So you never know what you might discover about yourself in here... Autism is a spectrum and many NTs have their share of autistic traits.

What traits make you identify as an NT with an Aspie leaning?

Regardless of that, you're welcome in here. I hope you find this to be a place where you can fit in and meet kindred spirits.

Aspie-quiz results:
Aspie score: 138 of 200 / NT score: 78 of 200 => Very likely an Aspie.

I've been to a therapist who has said that I'm NT, though I've considered getting a second opinion. I have reason to doubt, as I have very similar symptoms, and the more I research, the more I'm seeing similarities.

Mostly the social skills, lack of empathy though I come from a family of highly emotional people and have become quite adept at faking it, obsessive behavior once I develop an interest in something, highly sensitive to noise, mimicry of other people, and quite a few other traits. I read an article, which I can't post until I've been here longer, a while back which really kickstarted my thinking, as I can relate to nearly everything mentioned, especially the tendency to escape into imagination. I still identify as NT because I'm not convinced just yet.

I noticed on your profile that you're female. That in itself makes diagnosis more difficult. Aspie women do not present themselves the same way men do. This often causes us to go unnoticed by teachers, family and even mental health professionals who are not familiar with AS in women.

I found a blog that has helped me immensely. Check out these articles...

Aspergers Traits (Women, Females, Girls)

Females with Asperger's Syndrome (Non-Official) Checklist
