Hello, users of WP. I'll present myself:
- I was diagnosed with Asperger when I was 7, so I already learned to live with that and socializing nearly like "neurotypical" people. Also, I don't like people who think that the autistic spectrum of disorders are diseases that must be cured.
- I came to that forum thanks to Wikipedia; I was looking for information about associations related to autism and AS, and I casually found that forum; first I wasn't very interested in registering, but after seeing the content of these forums, I decided to register, because the idea of being able of contacting other Aspergers seemed interesting for me (I used to be in a association of Aspergers that met periodically for socializing and making activities together, but I finally withdrew from it because I didn't get any friend in the association, although I participated in its activities for nearly five years and tried to contact with anyone.)
- I'm Spanish and I live in Spain. (But I can write and speak quite well in English, so you won't need to do translated posts.)
- I like Science and Technology in general, though I am specially interested in Physics and Programming. Also, I'm interested in Literature, Politics, Psychology, and Pilosophy.
- Though I was baptised as a Catholic Christian, I consider myself agnostic, because I personally consider that the existence of Gods or superior realities is something (at the moment) unknowable. This doesn't mean I'm Atheist; I'm not denying its existence, I just think that they may or may not exist, but that this is something that we cannot know. Although that, I think that societies need moral systems for not getting too violent and chaotic, and that one great problem of Western societies is the Nihilsm and the lack of clearly dominant moral systems, with the religious ones tending to disappear without leaving any new moral system behind. (Meanwhile, for not falling into Nihilism, I adopted a Christian, yet little modified, moral system.)
- In politics I consider myself from the center-left wing, though I hate dogmatic political discourses. I thing that, theoretically, the Welfare State is a good, yet not perfect, economical system for giving equal rights and opportunities to all the population. And also, my opinion about the European Union is that it's a good idea, and that further integration between the member states is necessary (maybe through a federation?); but the lack of experience of European governments in that affairs, combined with his laziness for completing integration processes like the European Common Currency or Euro (a failed economical semi-integration for which we will have to pay for the next decade), and the generalised corruption of some institutions, made the unionist project fail tremendously in political and economic affairs. (Beside that, I think the Schengen Area of Free Trade an Travel was a great idea that must survive aside of all other economical or political initiatives.)
- And finally; I'm new in forums, that's nearly the very first one where I registered, and I'm not used to write replies, comments, and to have conversations in Chat Rooms. I think that with time I'll get used to it. And also, since years I have a strange habit: I tend to perfectionism in all letters and posts I write. (For example, I was editing this post for nearly two hours before submitting it.)
I think that this information is complete enough... I'll accept any help for learning to use this forum.
