Hello there! My name is Charles. I am from Maryland and I have Aspergers.

I am an aspiring chef and a video game and music enthusiast. I come across as a very angry person due to my appearance but in all honesty I am a very kind-hearted person. It is nice to be here and I hope we all can get along .

Hi Charles, I have been mistaken half my life for being angry, aloof or fierce, due to my appearance. But I have learnt how to cope with it: Not go out and meet anyone so no one can misunderstand me.

That's half a joke. Which means it's half true. When I have to go outside, I consciously put on a half-smiley face all the time when there are people around, which is very very exhausting, but it helps when you're at a job interview or a date or something like that.

Anyway, welcome to WP. I like video games too, and in a way, music.

Considering the scary personna you project, you might consider joining the military and becoming a Drill Instructor. There are folks who do that job that have the opposite problem, in that they come accross as too friendly. They have to come up with some routine to fiercify themselves before going to work. One told me they would look in the mirror, put on their black Smokey the Bear hat and transform their face into the most hideous grimace... lol. It gets me to wondering if that method might work for some Aspies. But with a friendly face (and atitude) instead.

Is one of them your wife?

You know I am not sure. We talk about things like that a lot, but she has never mentioned having to go thru a concious transformation. One clue of how she does it came out when she told me of some co-worker chatter that got back to her. Her previous supervisor had told the new one that she (my wife) was a very warm and caring person, but to be careful because 'that lady also has a very big switch'.
