And hello from England :D
I've been on this website so many times before, and I'm pretty sure it's helped me in a lot of ways, so I thought I'd finally come and join in properly.
So, about me. I live in the North of England, I'm a guy who was diagnosed with AS when I was around 6 or 7, and I'm now 16 and in sixth form doing 4 A-Levels. I've had a lot of ups and downs, but I seem to be on a pretty good upward streak now, every time I start somewhere new (like sixth form), I seem to make friends who actually understand me, and recently one of my best friends who I've known for a few years now (met her when I was in the Scouts, which in hindsight is probably one of the better things my parents made me do), basically asked me out, so now I have a girlfriend who genuinely seems to want to be around me :D
You must be reading this now and thinking, 'wait, where's the Asperger's?'. See, as I've grown up I've spent hours, probably weeks in total, just thinking about Asperger's and how it affects me, making it almost impossible to instinctively read body language and emotions, and giving me repetitive speech patterns etc. I realise that my AS is quite mild, but it has still reached into almost all areas of my life, for better or for worse. I had a great psychologist who taught me that, being a relatively intelligent boy, I could 'intellectualise' the problems, to literally think my way around them. To an extent, this has worked, with a lot of help from my hugely supportive friend group (who to be honest, have a few mental disorders themselves), leaving me where I am today, with only the emotional and impulsive problems left, the ones that I haven't worked out how to 'think' around. So yeah, I'm here to listen, to learn, to help if I can (I hate to see any kind of suffering), and hopefully to solve my remaining problems.
Sorry about the rather long post, I could go on all day with the disorganised (but completely logical! :P) way thoughts appear in my head. Anyway, hello everyone!
...and yes, that was Steven Fry in QI I quoted in the title. Great man, very successful in battling his bipolar.

Ahh, the inimitable Stephen Fry. He is one of my all-time favorite people. The second I read the title of your thread, it was in his voice haha! Good luck on your A-levels! Your girlfriend sounds lovely. It sounds like you've really got a lot to look forward to. Welcome to wrongplanet! Hope to see you 'round the interwebs.

Thanks guys :) I think I'm doing quite well on my A-levels, and my girlfriend is really nice :D But yeah, I do still have some problems, though they are quite small compared to what I see on here. TPP, where do you live? (That sounds bad, I only mean the city xP)

That is good to hear. As it says on my location thingy under my username, I'm in Greater Manchester, though not in the city itself.

Ah, I didn't see that xP if I'm even slightly distracted I can miss blatantly obvious things (something I'm gonna have to work on)

A few people have said that, though I just find it a little odd how anyone can miss those things. Then again, I always read the stuff on the side!
Where are you, then?

Welcome to Wrongplanet. :) Don't worry about your post, it was nice to read (to me anyway). I hope you enjoy it here, and that everything going on with you outside the interwebs goes well. :colors:

Thanks LookingLost :) Seems to be quite a nice community here :D and I'm in Washington, between Newcastle and Sunderland, so I'm opposite you TPP. Still the north, but on the other side :P And I'm sure I'll read all those bits on the side from now on :)

Hello! It's nice to see someone with Asperger's doing so well! What A Levels are you studying?

Haha, yeah, quite a bit of snow, though my town isn't doing too bad compared to the ones around us. And I'm studying Maths, Physics, Computing, and Art. Everyone always looks at me funny when I say art :P
