Hey! :D

I've never been diagnosed with Asperger's. I am very shy but friendly, and once the ice is broken I talk too much. Yet still, I often feel very alone when I am with my friends, being around more than two other people at once frustrates me to no end, and in elementary school I only had one friend at a time. I can be very shy, but in the first couple months of high school I forced myself to be as bubbly as possible so that I would not become a social recluse. I don't know when to stop talking, and I add it tons of extra details. I think I have Asperger's Syndrome- I scored 38 on the AQ test (normal being 16.4), and I highly doubt that I am autistic. I have learned to mimic the behaviours of others so that I can fit in with my age group...I have friends, but I have trouble understanding them. I don't have to mimic when it comes to my best friends though, who are all a year older than me (I'm 15 by the way). I think that I may have mild ADD...I'm looking into that as well...

My friends call me a nerd. I like to read my Science and History textbooks for fun...I love anything to do with Science and History, and I love to learn. I don't watch much TV besides the Simpsons. I also enjoy Latin and the study of Classical Civilizations. I like writing stories: creating characters mostly. I have four pets, all gerbils, two males and two females.

So yeah...Hi! :D

Welcome to the WrongPlanet JustineMarie! You sound like me except that I'm male and just turned 16. I also read science and history books for fun... That's a very common trait for aspies.

Everything you said sounds exactly like me, too :D! You should take those nerd comments as compliments, we all know nerds are the coolest people on earth around here. Oh, and welcome to WrongPlanet!

Yay! I'm not the only textbook reader out there! Nor am I the only non-stop talker! I don't feel alone anymore! I do take the 'nerd' jokes as compliments- I am not sure if they are intended as such, but I am not going to let them hurt me. I was called something besides a nerd once (probably more than once), and I told my friend to tell those people thank you because to me, it was a compliment (as you can tell, the remark was intended to be an insult). Indeed...nerds are the coolest people on earth!

A Latin fan? Awesome! I used to study Latin, but I'm using the time to work on my math now...when I'm not learning about AS.

Welcome!
