Hello everyone,

First off, I must say that I stumbled upon this forum by accident while googleing "tongue cheek and lip biting" which I struggle with, and just so happened to read a post here where I found I am not the only one who has a biting addition lol! I also saw several other topics which were extremely relevant to my every day life. With that being said............

I will take a moment to introduce myself. My name is Rheanna and I am a single mom to a little boy who has been diagnosed with PDD-NOS, Sensory Integration Disorder as well as ADHD-C and a few other developmental delays. I knew something was amiss with him the first time they brought him to me in the hospital after a somewhat traumatic birth that ended in an emergency c-section. He had some severe breathing and suck/swallow/breath issues as an infant, so much to the point they were tube feeding him and he was placed on an apnea monitor. He has had developmental delays all his life (I have always said the only thing he did on time was smile) and at a rather early age he was diagnosed as PDD-NOS. He was a bit too social for an all out autism diagnosis, as he would actively seek out some social interaction (to an extent, he does not like people "in his space" but he will over-zealously place himself in YOUR space :) ) and was an all around very happy baby. He did not form attachments to me or any other family members as a baby. I always said i could take him to wal-mart and leave him with total strangers and he would be happy as a pig in mud. But anyways, I tend to ramble :)

I have been looking for an online forum to find some support for some of the issues I am dealing with on a daily basis. More than anything, I want to be able to understand my son and what he is feeling and how to react to and deal with issues. We constantly fight the school, meds always seem to be changing, and there is ALWAYS some sort of issue being dealt with. I have never been diagnosed with any sort ADHD or autism, but I'd be willing to bet if i was a kid now they would definitely have labeled me by now. I was quite a handful as a child, but unlike my son I did not have any learning disabilities. I was just crazy and had a host of what I would now identify more as sensory issues (biting lips, which i still do to this day, i used to scrunch my toes up in my shoes and rub holes in the soles and make blisters on my toes, and I now have another habit of pinching the skin under my index fingernail between my thumbnail and index nail (i know, i am weird lol) )

Anywho, I am at work so I must make this short and sweet but I am excited to connect with some people who can give me tips, advice, and just a different perspective on things. If you've made it this far, thank you for reading!
