Hello, I'm scared. I haven't been diagnosed yet and in fact I haven't even been to a doctor of any sort in years. I am twentysix years old and I have been labeled different my entire life, and thats putting it mildly and censored. I had to build a wall around myself, or maybe rather a changing curtain. Something I could step behind and put on different personas that I thought would make my life easier to deal with or I think make me easier for others to deal with. I dont really know if I want to be diagnosed because I am afraid. I have been so good at ducking in and out of what people expect of me that I am not sure I can come from behind the curtain naked. so to speak. These past few months of researching and watching videos about aspergers syndrome is slowly changing my curtain into a mirror and I am so frightened that if i do anything it will shatter and then I will shatter. I will not be able to hide the pieces from the ones around me and I dont want them to think I have been lying to them about who I really am, I have a hard enough time dealing with the guilt as it is. I dont know what to do and I am not even sure that if I did I would be able to.

Welcome to Wrong Planet, raisinhell. Don't be scared, though. You might actually learn a lot from this place.

I am so sorry Raist,

For me, realizing that I might just be an Aspie really helped, just by giving everything one name and one cause. It took a lot of the guilt and pressure off me too; I realized I wasn't doing it to myself really. I learned that there were things I could do to make it better for myself, but that I wasn't the original cause of it.

I hope you will find a lot of support here that will help you get to a place where you are no longer afraid, and don't feel bad about who you are. There is still lots of room for positive things to happen, and no one deserves to suffer like that. That most definitely includes you.
