Hello everyone,

I'm am new here and would like to introduce myself. I am 29 years old and have always known I was very different to my peers, parents and siblings, in some incomprehensible way. I have never officially been diagnosed with Aspergers or an Autism spectrum disorder, although it has been mentioned as a possibility by therapists I've visited. I also scored about 150 out of 200 on the popular online Aspergers test I've seen many people on here use, although for some reason those that know me well are reluctant to accept the idea that I may be on the Autistic Spectrum. Anyway, after many many years of being in the wilderness, not knowing how to navigate society, social situations and the world, leading to the full gamut of depressive and anxious states, I come here seeking friendship and hopefully greater self knowledge and awareness. I hope I've finally found a place where I can be accepted, and very much look forward to chatting and sharing experiences with some of you soon.

Welcome to WP.

It seems to be very common that relatives do not wish to accept an autistic diagnosis (lots of threads about it here). This is a very good forum to learn from, try and browse old posts and have a look at some of the stickies.

Thank you Helles.

I perhaps should have mentioned I have been perusing the forums for a few months now, before becoming a member, trying to see if there were others out there that had had similar experiences to my own. Turns out there are a great many stories I can relate to. WP has been a great help to me already in the cause of self-discovery.
