I first heard about Asperger Syndrome about three years ago when I heard a story on Fresh Air on NPR about a man who was diagnosed with the condition after his son was diagnosed with it. Then about a year and a half ago I read a comment at the Street Prophets website by a woman who called herself an Aspie, and gave a link to a site with an explanation of AS. I thought, that sounds awfully familiar. Through more research I have begun to suspect more and more that I, too, have this condition.
And now I've found WrongPlanet.net, and am almost certain. Seeing articles titled Answering 'How was your day?' and The Secrets of Successful Smalltalk my first thought was, Finally, someone has taken the time to explain these mysteries. I had always thought that someone forgot to give me a list of instructions for social interaction when I was younger. It is just now sinking in that most people learn these things without a tutorial.
I've always known I was different from other people, but now I'm able to put a name to the difference. I am looking forward to exploring more of this site soon.
