I'm 28 and undiagnosed, but after five months of research (websites, blogs, forums, and published books), I almost certain that I have Asperger's. As the next step in my exploration, I want to try to relate my own experiences with others and see how they align before I talk to anyone in my life about this. I've had several different psychiatric diagnoses since I was 17, none of which seemed to explain my difficulties, and only now do I feel like I am finding the answers I've always needed. I do fear being told that I'm imagining all of it, though, so it is important for me to reach out to others on the spectrum before seeking a formal diagnosis, which I've read can be expensive, exhausting, and incredibly difficult for a high functioning adult female to receive.

The issue of diagnosis aside, the idea of having discussions with unique minds with which I might actually be able to relate is kind of exciting. :D

Hi. Thanks for reaching out to us. A diagnosis may not be as expensive as you think. Here is a link to Asperger's therapists in your NYC area.

Some offer a sliding scale and cost between $100-$350.

Thanks! I just moved to the city, so I hadn't looked for therapists, but I definitely will knowing there is a possibility for less expensive options.
