:? Does anyone else do anything like this: when I am walking (mostly i walk alone) i have an internal soundtrack (sometimes I will actually make the sounds - quietly) of a locomotive (diesel electric) working up the grade as I go uphill, then as I descend the sound is of my riding the dynamics. 'Hope I am not alone. although I don't actuallyhope that nay of you have to do this too.

yep.

I make pulse sounds. It comforts me. choo.

I don't persay visualize Im a locomotive. Just keep a beat of a sort. The issue is that to focus what is in front of me; or to ward off stimuli that makes me uncomfortable; I utilize a lotta beating techniques with silent voice and sometimes body. It's no wonder. I don't often catch others rocking to themselves-which I will do with my head while keeping an imaginary beat. It would be a clue that I am nervous or uncomfortable in a situation.

When I'm walking, I try to align my steps to the square things that make up the side walk. I will not make big, unnatural steps to accomplish this. I also notice patterns if the blocks are a weird size, like say every third block the alignment gets an offset of say one step.

Oh, we're talking about the sounds part not the walking part?

In my head I make simple sounds like "da da da" when it's quiet.

I tend to play a song in my head in perfect rhythm with my step pattern. Sometimes I'll hum or sing it quietly, as well. It's not exactly what you're describing, although I feel they're probably related.

sometimes i will go in my head "dum...dum... DUH!... dum...." repeatedly and the "DUH!" is when i step on the crack between 2 sidewalk blocks. and my steps to the size of the blocks make this align perfectly to most sidewalks.
