I never knew there was a forum out there for people with Aspergers!

I guess I'll start out with the basics, My name is Sarah, I was diagnosed with Aspergers Syndrome when I was about 11. I have been obsessed with Classic rock bands (Mainly The Beatles) and classic TV shows since I was about 11 or 10 also.

Hello Sarah, Welcome to the WP. It's not just for Aspies, but many of the most active posters who are on the spectrum are in that category. There's a goodly number of NT folks here too; most of them are friends or family members of people on the Autism Spectrum or associated BAP. There's also a sprinkling of professionals and students who are looking to understand those who identify as Wrong Planeteers...anyway, explore, enjoy, contribute...
:)

Hi Sarah, Welcome to Wrong Planet.

We, the people on the Autistic Spectrum have a choice.
We can either try to "fit in" with the rest of society, or we can be so egocentric that we can't be bothered.
I choose the actor. I observe NT's. I listen to their socializing. I practice it, so in social situations I can just emulate/mimic what is expected.
It isn't natural for me, but it enables me to "fit in".
It is VERY tiring and draining, but at least we can appear like them even though it is an act. Like being on the stage.
They can't see it is emulation, and so we are accepted.
