But I don't know how to show a picture of him because they won't let me upload, just post a u r l link which I don't know how to use.

I have been diagnosed with Asperger's since I was eight years old I believe. I was born here in San Diego, but have also lived in Hawaii (Oahu) and Jacksonville, Florida as a child, and Pennsylvania as a young adult. Long story, my mother and my father didn't get along, my mother was a bipolar alcoholic, and my father... doesn't make a good impression on social workers. And so I was made to live with a horrible foster parent who wouldn't let me use the internet or eat as much as I liked or even read advanced math and science books. I also have a twin sister who is even more autistic than I am and she is still being held hostage and there is nothing I can do about it

I am also very ADHD. In elementary school I was in special ed a lot and I hated it, I hated missing out on field trips and being bored all the time. My obsessions growing up were dinosaurs, zoology, and later Pokémon, Nintendo in general and to a lesser extent Harry Potter. I wasn't good at math until I was in high school (I attribute my Pokémon obsession to making me good at math; I learned to calculate battle damage in my head from contemplating battle strategies frequently) and I became obsessed with math and physics and decided that I wanted to be a physicist, but my foster parent wouldn't let me apply to a decent school and having no internet and going to crappy schools meant I was denied every possible opportunity I might have had to prove how vastly superior I was to my peers... I would have wiped floor at a spelling bee, or an art or essay competition... ok there was the Science Bowl, which I would have won if it were an individuals rather than a team competition, because I got more questions right than any one person, needless to say I was dragged down by my teammates when we went up against a better balanced team.

I pretty much nuthoused my way out of community college, it drove me nuts, I got bad grades even though the material was easy, and after going to live with my long lost father here he had a stroke and lost his job and his home so now I am in a group home that won't indulge my eating habits so I am getting really skinny...

My greatest talents are art and writing but I am more interested in math and science. I am drawing a series of pictures on the computer of fairies that represent the periodic table of elements (I'm going to make the Lanthanides into a rock band :D ) and I am also writing a book about a conspiracy theory involving scibrats (see my other post) I study math and science on my own but somedays I can't concentrate as well as I want to make myself. I only do artwork on the days I am involved with my 'day program', I more or less have a publishing deal to make a book with my artwork and yet I am too busy forcing myself to study to work on that. Go figure.

I see science and math as the highest form of art, and yet I believe many people, in particular neurotypicals have lost touch with that. They do not intuitively understand the nature of how things work beyond the grossly simplified abstractions they were taught in class. I do not do well with lectures at all, they burn out my precious little bit of concentration that I am given in one day, and which I don't have period on some days (like today!) plus it is encoded into the memory wrong, in a way that is more comprehensible to NT minds I suppose. I have to read the book and just figure out the problems; sometimes I cannot concentrate well enough to read the books so I just have to figure out my own way to solve the problem. I actually got an A in a physics class in college without even doing the homework or paying attention or studying; I just figured out the problems, some of which I don't think I really ever worked on before, in the time given to take the test. I am always amazed when I get things right; I make lots of ADHD errors. I haven't been in school since I got back on meds, but I don't know; I can only take micro doses of Dexedrine (5 mg a day, and I must skip some days or it pushes me to the anxiety threshold if I take it too many days in a row) and it only lasts a short time. I hate not being able to concentrate when I desperately want to study and learn!! !! ! That is all I am obsessed over these days, such that I have cut down on other things I like to do, such as making videos on Youtube (I make funny redubs of Alvin and the Chipmunks cartoon episodes) and writing fanfiction and the occasional fanart (my fandoms are the Koopalings of the Super Mario games and Hetalia)

Also my fancy cat Lindor has a Facebook but don't listen to him; he's CRAZY!! ! His best friends are musical instruments that he plays chess with; I am SO TIRED of hearing him whine about losing all of his white chocolates in a bet with the 'fancy piano' or the 'fancy' violin!

I was so angry when I read your post! What your foster parent did is criminal. It reminds me of my parents, who were (literally) criminals, and idiots on top of that. I was desperate for books to study, by my dad would never take me to the library, and there were almost no books at home. I got desperate and studied the dictionaries at our house. It is terrible when morons hold their children back, and torture when the brain stagnates from boredom. However, I majored in physics at university, and it wasn't what I thought it would be.

Oh, that's terrible, I was even forbidden to read the dictionary ("WHAT KIND OF IDIOT JUST SITS THERE AND READS THE DICTIONARY?!") but yes. She kept me and my sister only for the money. She wouldn't even let me go to college until I was almost 21, and because I threatened to rat her out to the police for punishing me by not letting me go to school (punishments for trivial little things like forgetting to do some chore)she threw me out. I could put up with having TV, video games, even food and internet taken from me, but my education, well that was where I drew the line, I would even risk being homeless rather than have her put that in jeopardy. I went to go live with a nice lady I met on the bus; she said she has a cousin with a son that she thinks is on the spectrum, and she recognized the traits in me instantly.

How exactly was physics not what you expected? I prefer theory and I hate the lab classes; even if they are easy, I will cry and get stressed out for no reason, especially if I don't work well with the lab partners (who usually want to do everything on their own and let me be bored, and the way I operate is, either I do everything or I do nothing at all; I'm not lazy I just can't work well with other people). Sometimes I did mediocre in lab because I was too bored to concentrate well.

Oh and the college she made me attend was a community college that was so terrible they did not even have BASIC calculus or calculus based physics courses. I was the only student who got an A (ok an A minus but because of mediocre lab performance) in the chemistry class; the only thing I learned ALL YEAR was what a rubber policeman is. I remembered EVERYTHING from high school. Colleges work with the assumption that people forget everything; now neurotypicals have good short term memory but poor long term memory compared to us, I think. My memory actually gets better with age, 'fermentation' one might call it. But very poor short term memory, especially episodic memory as opposed to semantic memory (lectures tend to get recorded in the former instead of the latter, which is less accessible to the working memory) So I transferred to a four year which was still not good enough, since they didn't have physics majors only minors, and that's where I took the really easy physics class. And they made me take calc 1 again even though I already had it in high school because they don't let you pass into any higher math classes than that no matter how well you do on the placement exam (there were stupid engineering majors in my physics classes that had to retake trig and precalculus in college even though they had calculus in high school; they were fresh out of high school too, and I hadn't had a math class in two and a half years; that's a fine example of the difference between an NT and an Aspie) and the crappy high school I went to doesn't give you credit unless you pay a hundred dollars and then only for a certain Bible college. To think I took out $3,500 of loans for classes like that... still the school tired me out and I couldn't concentrate on anything which made me depressed and I even nearly dropped out thinking I was going to fail. After that semester was over I just left to go back to California to live with Daddy.

Then when I got here I found out about their stupid policy, that if you spoiled your higher educational virginity with credits from another institution, you are barred from application to the four year colleges until you get at least 60 credits, which here had to be at a community college, even though I did well enough in high school to go to a good college (not straight A's, but mostly A's; in core subjects, just a few B's and maybe a C in English because of not using MLA format or not paying attention well enough while reading the assigned books, and a B+ in calculus but that school graded on a 94% cutoff for an A and I always got low A's in math anyway, too many dumb errors... oh and I scored 34 on the ACT, 34 English 35 Math 33 Science 33 Reading but I never took the SAT). Community colleges are most HORRIBLE for people like me; not only are the classes dumbed down (and designed to 'cool out' poor people from the higher echelons of society, like say you want to be a doctor they will try to convince you to be a nurse),, but they require you to attend for credit, and do homework for credit. I don't know why, but having to do homework for credit made me do worse on the tests. I think because it made me spend my time worrying about getting the assignment done on time instead of understanding the material. There were times, especially at the late at night classes, where I just ran out of class crying, feeling tortured just sitting there, and went to the library until I decided I wanted to go home. Plus I couldn't get disability services set up in time, since I didn't have any of my old medical records or other required paperwork and would have to wait until I could get a doctor's or psychiatrist's appointment. I don't know why I need extra time for tests though, especially if I get a higher grade than other people anyway, if you ask me the neurotypicals are the ones that are disabled, for not being able to remember how to solve simple math problems, or perform mental arithmetic, they just use a calculator, which stresses me out to use, hence my learning to do math in my head for whatever problems that working memory permits. The counselors were ALWAYS busy at a meeting instead of counseling. This frustrated me, and so eventually I did something that made them think I was suicidal and so they put me in the suicide ward at the mental hospital for two days... it was scary there. And they also withdrew me, which I was leaning towards doing anyway. The students there were apathetic and boring; I don't get along with most physics or engineering people. All they want is a job so they can make tons of money to buy stupid stuff like a car and a house and alcohol and a spouse and kids and other stuff I don't want (I'm asexual by the way) I just want to dedicate my life to science and invention and art.

My sister knows a woman in our town who takes foster kid after foster kid for the money, then kicks them all out when they turn 18. It's really disgusting.

I thought they would teach from first principles and it would be easy to follow the logic from experiment to theory. It was difficult for me to remember any of the material because they teach the theory, but they don't explain why the theory is true. I need to know what experiments the old scientists conducted, how they were set up, the results, and conclusions so I can follow the reasoning process from experiment to theory and understand how the equations were derived. They just say "this is true. believe it. here's the equation. use it." I have no idea where the Shroedinger equation comes from. It just appeared out of thin air one day.

Also, they use metaphors to explain the theory, and it makes no sense to me why anyone would do that because speaking in metaphors just adds an extra layer of complexity. Like, in my upper division modern physics course, the professor kept saying talking about particles in a "potential well." I was thinking of particles physically buried somewhere down deep, like a well where you get water from, but it really meant a particle that is so strongly attracted that it is unable to escape (like being stuck at the bottom of a well).

The other thing I don't like is the problems that aren't physically possible. Like "find the electric field generated by an infinite plane of charge." There are no such things as infinite planes, so it makes no sense. We would have to be in a totally different universe for such a thing to exist, and all the laws of physics might be different in that different universe, so it is presumptuous to solve the problem like just that one thing – the existence of infinite planes of charge – is different and everything else is the same.

I hate working in teams too, even with just one lab partner. But my experience wasn't too bad because my lab partners and I split up the work; one did the experiment while the other wrote down the data, and then we switched on the second half of the lab project. But I learn more when I do everything myself.

Wow, I didn't know that. I'm in California too, but I decided to start at community college. I had to re-take the second semester of vector calculus once I got to university, and I was so bored that I earned a worse grade than I had at community college. It's so boring to learn stuff twice.

18? I wish I were that lucky. Because I am 'disabled', that gave the foster parent the right to continue to leech money off of me until I turned 21, and in fact she adopted me right before I turned 18 so she could do just that. Now, according to my birth certificate, I was asexually spawned by her... and she wants to hold on to my sister until she gets her SSI back payments. I am still waiting for MY SSI. I am only able to stay at this group home because of payments made through Regional, which will be paid back out of the SSI back payments if I ever get them. I even hired a lawyer but the hearing has been postponed again and again... the moment I get that SSI I'm getting my own place, provided I can afford it, and then my dad will tell my foster parent that he has a place for my sister to stay so that she will send her here. My dad is useless now, staying with some friend of his for free, but not allowed to keep anyone else there. I make do with the small stipend given out of the money paid by Regional (which is always late) and the 40 bucks I make tutoring. I tutor under the table through Craigslist, and I have a few steady clients that I see every week or so. $10 an hour, which is not bad if you don't have to pay rent or gas or anything, although I spend most of it on food because I have very particular tastes, mostly healthy foods which is gouging to the wallet especially with a metabolism like mine. The people that run the group home are supposed to be going food shopping, but they seldom do, have only a limited idea of what foods I like, and they nag me to shower every day and change my clothes constantly even if they're NOT dirty, and to eat when I don't feel like it, and to eat at the table which I don't like, memories of being harassed by the foster parent over the dinner table plus I have a small stomach so I can't eat a big meal all at once and I'm too impatient to sit at the table long enough to eat it all anyway. And then they lock half of the foods up and even the toaster which I need to make bagels with smoked salmon and I have had a bad habit of eating late at night lately. Overall they are just hassling me about my eating making me not want to eat, plus during the times I have no internet I sit at the coffeehouse all day to use it and wind up spending way too much money on lattes, which were once enough to keep my raging appetite at bay, but not anymore now that I have lost all of my spare pounds... 5'5.5" and 113.6 last time weighed, that's underweight if not borderline BMI. Hunger really distracts from my studies but when I'm hungry I paradoxically have a harder time picking something to eat, I am too hungry to think straight and make a decision. The other clients are fat and on sedating drugs that I refuse to take, so they're easier to deal with.

So they don't tell you how the equations were derived? That I think is outlined even in laypeople's physics books. I wouldn't know, being unable and ill-advised anyways to pay attention to the lecture content... yeah the wording in the term 'potential well' is unintuitive, come to think of it. If they just say there is a region where there is zero potential energy between two regions of infinite potential energy so that the particle is trapped in the region of zero, that would suffice. I remember my high school physics teacher making all sorts of confusing football metaphors... are NTs unable to understand vectors or something?

I had the SAME problem with the infinite sheet of charge! I was actually discussing it on Physics Forums, which is full of egotistical condescending jerks that seemed to think that I just memorize stuff without understanding it (I plainly told them, for me memorizing is intrinsically linked to understanding; if I memorize it I understand it, and if I understand it I memorize it, kind of an if and only if thing, necessary and sufficient conditions for each other, but they didn't get that logic) and I mentioned how illogical it is and then I thought about it... no matter how far you get from an infinite plane of charge the electric field remains the same. I wondered how this could be, and then I thought, moving farther away but staying the 'same distance', would be equivalent to the particle just staying there or shrinking. Or that's the visualization I got, but if I don't describe things perfectly in physics people jargon they don't seem to understand.

Why did they make you take vector calculus (calc 3?) again, was the community college credit untransferable? I only got an A minus when they made me retake calc 1, and I was getting D's and high F's in that late night calc 2 course I dropped out of; mostly for stupid errors, I even found some stuff that was incorrectly marked as wrong that I showed him for credit, but not enough to raise the grade high enough. I remember something that seemed SOOO HARD the way the teacher was teaching it, but now I can just figure it out too easily. I didn't have the textbook, mind you, and I found a hard time finding an appropriate substitute (Wikipedia's integration tables didn't contain all of the needed formulas, and it contained plenty of redundant ones). Anyway, in the past two years I have taught myself that, vector calculus, linear algebra, differential equations, some partial differential equations, just a bit of analysis and abstract algebra and group theory... I find also studying it at a harder level makes me understand it better. Like the edx class on circuits and electronics teaches the lumped matter discipline, which is so much easier than Kirchhoff's laws which are an engineering abstraction and thus don't even make sense to teach in a physics course. Also, studying differential equations cements the calc 2 concepts, like improper integrals because you have to use those a lot to solve differential equations. But apparently teaching all that together is too much for a poor NT's brain? Or skipping to the harder stuff is a no-no because I don't gain the 'physical intuition' gained from being taught the easier courses? Right you mean the heavy handed metaphors...

I plan to take the GREs and hope they let me skip into a grad program somewhere...

heres a word of advice to newcomers...

don't post long articles, no one is going to read all of it. keep it short and sweet.

I dont mind people posting their opinion, but if people mind to post my opinion without asking me, I get angry. Specially when the opinion of mine they post, is not true or not agreeing into that opinion turns me into "nobody".

I'm sorry, sometimes I can only write in walls of text. It takes a novel to describe everything that has gone wrong with my life.

No prob, there are other novel writer as well in the forum. For me it seem rather not understandable, how a person simply can be allowed to officially adopt you, without you agreeing into it? Was there never an youth-office person talking to you about that? Special when you are so thin, its hard for me to understand, that noone controlled if you are well cared for?

I actually agreed to the adoption, because by then the foster parent had me brainwashed and turned against my family. My starved metabolism clung to my baby fat for dear life so that I didn't look too thin. I can eat as I please now, since the group home people let me come and go more or less as I please, I'm just thin now because of eccentric eating habits and cheapness. I was afraid of being sent to a group home, having been lied to about such places... if only I knew, that I would have it way better over here than with her! She also moved out of city and then out of state so people wouldn't catch on. She had to get rid of me because I am too smart, but my younger twin is lower functioning and therefore easier to manipulate.

I called a few days ago, at my father's request, to wish my sister a happy birthday. The lady picked up, and hung up without a word when I told her who I was and that I wanted to speak with my sister, and later she called my dad and told him that I had been calling her repeatedly and at odd hours, and that she wanted to file for harassment... a lie, I only called once and I hadn't pocket dialed her either, she even called me first thinking my dad was there. Oh and apparently my sister is now living away from her in another state, probably deeply brainwashed against me... she was actually willing to give my sister up to my dad, but since my dad had a stroke and lost his job and his home he has no place to keep her, and they won't let my sister go straight to a group home without having lived in this state again for a while, and she is poisoned against the idea of living in one anyway, especially not being allowed to talk to me so I can tell her that I eat what I want and do as I please and even have my own beautiful cat...

Thank you. THIS is a sample of what my cat does on the internet: http://www.chess.com/forum/view/off-top ... -fancy-cat

Which cat on there is yours? I don't think my cat is very fancy. I know he would never wear a bow tie. If I put one on him I am certain that he would figure out how to get it off.

Yeah, there are a lot of cats on that website, aren't there? He's the one named WeisseSchachlade who is asking everyone how fancy he is.

The collar he is wearing in that picture, that's his old collar, my mom sent it to him when he was seven months old and he kept on trying to get it off at first. The new bow tie he wears now, however, he didn't fight at all. He must welcome the change, since it's a lot looser than his old collar.
