Hi everyone!
I have been diagnosed with HFA and Aspergers (I got both diagnoses from different doctors at different points in my life so I really don't know which one is more appropriate). I'm a sophomore in college. Going to college was a huge challenge, but surprisingly my first year went quite well and I made a nice group of friends. This year, however, my autism seems to be "worse" in that it's affecting my life far more than it did last year, so I thought joining here couldn't hurt. I've been trying to make it through college without telling any friends/faculty that I have autism because I didn't want to be treated differently or labeled as weird/incapable because of it, but I feel like now, even though I think I need to tell people, I would be viewed as a fake or as trying to make excuses for myself. I'm having a lot of problems with my roommate/a person I used to be friends with (and unfortunately he is part of my only friend group, so I cannot get away from him), but I'm convinced it is mostly his fault and I'm very rarely doing anything wrong. That's another issue entirely, however.
Anyway! I really, really enjoy video games, particularly Nintendo systems and franchises (Pokemon and Zelda are my favorites), and I have loved Nintendo since I was about 3. I also really like studying language.
I hope I can make some friends here, or at least just talk to other people who understand what it's like to have autism!
