To be honest I don't know where to start.
My mind is a never ending twister of ideas and thoughts. I currently feel unwelcome in every social situation I try to do. I find it extremely hard to make sentences flow or even to continue let alone begin a conversation. I feel down all the time and often have no real friends.
So after running into this forum and after hesitating for 8 months or so I decided to try posting something here. A little bit about me is that I'm 17, diagnosed with aspergers, I like science, tech, and random things. So I can't think of anything else but you can ask.

Hello!

I don't claim to be a spokesperson for ASD or in any way qualified (I was recently diagnosed with Asperger's, aged 32) but at your age I found it INCREDIBLY helpful to work part time while I was studying, waiting tables in a restaurant.

The pay sucked, and I hated the job, and I was VERY awkward at first, but it gave me excellent practice at approaching strangers and plenty of opportunity to observe body language. I noticed that the more capable and charming staff went home with more money, so I had a financial incentive to do better.
Within six months I had the confidence to charm my way into stranger's wallets, and outperformed all but the most exceptionally beautiful of my colleagues in terms of earning tips. They didn't have a clue that I was autistic... but then, neither did I

What I'm saying is keep practising at these things that make you feel awkward. Learning how to be sociable or communicate effectively will take time and a great deal of mental effort, but if you're anything like me you can improve.

...and welcome.

after 5 decades of trying I am not appreciably better at it. a guy's gotta know his limitations. I conserve my energy now for things that I CAN improve at.

To expand a bit, and answer some of the replies. The sciences I like are mostly biology, physics, and chemistry fields, I like problem solving and I think extremely logical. I have been slightly interested in a job but there's not many out there. I also have a distrust of people and a fear of rejection. I am open to PMs so feel free to send those.

True very true but I'm not super creative. I tend to associate art with creativeness. My goal here on this forum is to find people with similar interests that I can relate to. Also I'm an avid gamer and feel free to send PMs.

creativity can come when you are tasked to find a solution to things but with insufficient support/tools. your brain is forced to find workarounds and that is one of the mothers of creativity.

I'm not entirely sure if it counts as creativity but whenever I'm playing minecraft I have an innate ability to problem solve and come up with a fix to the problem. To be fair though since I worry a lot about being accepted I kind of limit myself despite the fact I've proven otherwise. :?
