Hi guys, new to the site and just wanted to say "Hi".

I generally don't talk too many people, tend to keep myself to myself but I'm trying to find a reason to talk to people.

Well I grew up in the sort of worst way, having clear Asperger's and no-one having any clue what Asperger's was but more than happy to beat the #%@& out of the weird kid. So I was just different enough for people to hate me and not different enough for people to get there was something there that needed attention and patience. (Though I must say that barely differs today)

Having been through that I can say with all honesty I've seen some of the worst part of humanity and simply cannot connect with a single person beyond a superficial level (with the exception of one person, my girlfriend, who is an exception in every sense of the word). I've become extremely sensitive to being able to read when people lie, which hasn't helped as people do so about the same rate as they breathe. (Can't tell I'm a misanthrope eh?)

However its not all doom and gloom. I'm at University earning a degree in a subject I love and as I mentioned I have a girlfriend I love and hold dear.

I'm more or less here to try and figure myself out and try to understand the truly beautiful and yet torturous nature of the autistic mind.

I'm happy to answer questions about myself and offer help/advice/opinions about my experiences or current situation.

Hi there and welcome! :)

I stay the other side of Renfrew, was in Glasgow until almost 3 years ago. My son is 12 and he was diagnosed with Asperger's when he was 7.

Hello Marcia,

I've always had an amazing admiration for mothers of ASD children, few mothers display such patience.

Hi and welcome

I'm a Glasgow native, now converted to a Paisley 'Buddie'. I grew up in the days when Asperger's hadn't been 'discovered' or at least wasn't in the public domain.I only stumbled upon it on the internet when I was in my 40s and a light went on in my head, explaining all the difficulties I had at school etc.

One thing I've learned is to try and relate to people as individuals and not to sterotype either NTs or Aspies. I think we're all on the 'human spectrum' !

I may differ from you on that one Pluto. While I don't value people with ASD more then NTs, I simply have noticed (or have encountered) more openly honest, interesting, tolerant and diverse people within the ASD community.

But it is my sincere hope to one day share your perspective.
