I was diagnosed as a child, with Asperger's syndrome. Over the years I have largely beaten the symtoms. Now at 22 I have a fiancée and a small group of friends, who I see rarely.

I am also unemployed however, a drop out from university and rather depressed from time to time. Maintaining relationships takes me a lot of time and effort. Known this site exists for ages, but finally decided to sign in. So, here I am!

Sorry to say, but it doesn't sound like you've "overcome" Asperger's (not that anyone could):

- *small* group of "friends" you see *rarely*
- *unemployed*
- *drop out*
- *depressed*
- maintaining relationships *takes a lot of time and effort*

Welcome to autism ... and Wrong Planet.

Perhaps that is impossible, yes. Then again at least I have some friends, I am not as lonely as some and I could be off worse. So I like to think of myself as succesful to a degree. I have been able to cope with the cards I was dealt early in life and embraced all aspects of myself. I am not seen as autistic by others so it is largely a silent struggle... but here perhaps I can find like minded people who know what it is like. And how to deal with the things I still have yet to deal with. :)

Welcome :D

Sorry to hear you've had a rough time. Hopefully you'll find some solace here.

That....was pretty good. Put a smile on my face after watching one of my teams lose and my other one being well on their way.
