Hi, I'm 41 and have just been recently diagnosed with Autistic Spectrum Disorder (under DSM V) with avoidant detachment compounded by chronic trauma ... still getting my head around that especially after at least 30 years of several apparent mis-diagnosis.

Have been trying to find someone, anyone to talk to about it and I seem to be having trouble because of my age since most support groups are aimed at younger people.

I just don't know where to go from here ...

Chris

Have you thought about a private counsellor, maybe one that specialises in any of the areas you mentioned but yes you would have to pay.
The plus side about a private counsellor though is they may be able to direct you to a support group you don't have to pay for, they should know what is available for you.

Welcome! :)
I guess as Onoma said you would have to search for a psychologist or counselor. Make sure they have expertise/experience on aspergers!
