Hello, world.

Ive chosen Tryptamine as my handle, as I find nuerochemistry and psychoactive drugs to be fairly interesting.

Im currently 21 years old and Ive recently been diagonsed with Aspergers Syndrome. I guess my story is not that unique around these parts, I had the standard "always knew I was different" feeling throughout my childhood, which has only intensified with age.

I was referred to a psychologist a few months ago for anxiety, as I was having trouble performing at work. The psychologist asked me if I had ever heard of Aspergers after about half an hour of speaking with him, at which point I made an apoinment for an evaluation by a specialist. After a number of sessions with the specialist, including them speaking to my mother about my childhood, I was given a ten page report and a diagnosis of Aspergers Syndrome.

I think Ive been having trouble coming to terms with it since, and have left my job as my anxiety/depression has been getting worse since the diagnosis.

I thought I would join these forums to read other peoples experiences and hopefully better understand myself.

welcome to WP!

sorry to hear about your anxiety/depression--i've struggled with the same for many years now, myself. it does get better, just hang in there, and don't forget to allow yourself some time to adjust. it's a big change, finding out you're on the spectrum, and it's going to take a while for it to sink in and for you to sort out what it means to you. you may find in the next little while that reflecting back on your life through the lens of asperger's/autism may explain some things that didn't make sense before, and this can be a source of relief and self-acceptance as a counterweight to the depression .

anyway, there are a lot of great people here and i've found the forum really helpful--i hope you do, too. :)

What's up. I just joined this website as well. I'm a big fan of psychoactive drugs as well. What sort of things do you like to use?

Please restrict discussion of recreational drug use to the Adult issues forum.
