Late last summer, I saw the last third of a show on PBS that had Temple Grandin clips. Many of the things she said applied to me. I don't have internet at home so I checked on occasional trips to the library.

I found a symptoms list. The "repetitive/ritualistic behavior" didn't apply and instead of "formal speach", I would say " exact", "precise", or " literal" instead. Everything else was a direct bullseye.

One of the things I am wondering about are the pros and con's of getting an official diagnosis. I have been on disability for severe psoriatic arthritis since 2002 so job concerns are irrelevant but money is a major concern.

Do your homework carefully before you choose a diagnostician.
Every act has a consequence. Getting a formal dx might bring changes to your life...consider what they might be. As an adult, the issues and expectations are different. It also depends on where you live as to what a dx could mean for you.

Oh...forgot to welcome you to WP...just saw that this is your first post.

Hi, I'm an adult who's comfortably self-diagnosed at age 51.
